FAQ

WHAT TYPE OF MUSICIANS ARE INVOLVED WITH CONTINUO?

We have musicians from all over the Greater Boston area! We cover all instrument groups, including strings, winds, brass, and vocalists. Some are freshmen in Massachusetts' public high schools, while others attend Harvard University, Northeastern University, Boston University, and even New England Conservatory!

HOW MUCH OF A COMMITMENT IS CONTINUO?

Being part of Continuo is an incredibly flexible experience! With community performances, you are free to sign up during whatever period of time you please. We only ask that you stay true to the days and times that you have committed to. With teaching residencies, it is important to attend the sessions that were agreed upon when you applied. But you don’t have to apply to anything you don’t have time for or simply don’t want to do! We have many musicians who are involved with all programs, but we also have many who choose to only do what they wish.

HOW CAN I GET CONTINUO TO PERFORM AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER I WORK AT?

We are always looking for more venues to perform at for our community performances! Please email the details to us at continuoboston@gmail.com with “Community Performance Venue Inquiry” in the subject line.

ARE PERFORMANCES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?

Most of our community performances are in private locations, besides our residency events at the Boston Children's Museum.

IS CONTINUO THE SAME AS FROM THE TOP‘S CDAL PROGRAM?

Continuo was founded by Center for the Development of Arts Leaders (CDAL) alums who were extremely devastated that the program was put on hiatus. Accordingly, our programs are largely based on CDAL’s programs. We are now completely independent from From the Top but are incredibly grateful to have previously been associated with the organization that gave us inspiration to engage with our communities in this way.
